The monument to the physician who studied and became a professor in Tartu was completed in 1952. The authors of the monument are J Raudsepp, A Mölder, P Tarvas, A Volberg.
Nikolai Pirogov was the founder of experimental surgery, topographic anatomy and field surgery. His work made the surgeries performed in Tartu famous all over Russia and also abroad.

At the foot of the hill before a nice walk up.

You need a guide to understand the role of this person, although Google/Wikipedia helps already. Just one of the nice statues.

Pirogov needs some PR

While everyone knows where this park is few people know anything about the man...maybe he invented some kind of anesthesia because people go to the park to get wasted
