Orjaku birdwatching tower
Orjaku Tower, located on Hiiumaa, is one of Estonia's largest birdwatching towers! It is an ideal place to see the nature of Hiiumaa, observe birds, and enjoy the peaceful coastal landscape.
The tower is situated in Käina Bay within the Kassari landscape protection area, which boasts a very rich bird population. The tower offers excellent views of Käina Bay, reed beds, coastal meadows, and Orjaku Harbor. Since 1962, Käina Bay has been a bird protection area and has been part of the internationally significant wetlands, known as Ramsar sites, since 1997.
In spring and autumn, thousands of migratory birds can be observed from the tower as they stop in Käina Bay to feed and rest. A total of 170 bird species have been seen here, with 90 species nesting, mainly passerines and geese, but also cormorants.
The 2 km-long Orjaku study trail leads to the tower. In the summer, you can explore the exhibition in the building under the tower, which introduces Käina Bay and its natural values.
Come and discover one of Hiiumaa's most beautiful birdwatching spots!
