Peipsimaa Visitor Centre

Peipsimaa Visitor Centre is located in the heart of Peipsimaa, in the village of Kolkja in Tartu County – the ancient home of the Russian Old Believers.
We offer the possibility of:
- participating in handicraft workshops (fabric printing, rope twirling, metal ornamental art, filet lace, calligraphy, etc.); 
- buying Peipsimaa handicrafts and souvenirs that have been awarded the Estonian handicraft certificate;
- visiting different exhibitions at the art gallery in Peipsimaa and the Chicory Museum;
- trying delicious onion pies, chicory soup, and samovar tea with cooked sugar;
- renting bicycles, scooters, and kick-sledges;
- we also have a children’s playhouse and a sandbox.

  • Very interesting exhibition and traditional handicrafts

    on the onion route by the Peipsi lake, the visitor centre of Kolkja village exhibit traditional print indigo fabrics and chicory museum. Stop for a drink at the cafe before continuing the onion route

  • Old Russian religion introduction

    Worth seeing and visiting a market - full of local onions and other agricultural products. Place to buy cheese and vegetables for winter.
