Tallinn Day commemorates the granting of Lübeck city rights in 1248, which marked Tallinn's acceptance into the Union of European Cities. The aim of the day is to celebrate the city's history and identity, showcasing both the contemporary and historical aspects of the capital, both in Estonia and around the world.
The Old Town of Tallinn hosts a diverse cultural programme, but smaller events are also held throughout the city. Tallinn Day was first celebrated in 2002.
