Laboratooriumi tänav 22, Kesklinna linnaosa, Tallinn

View on map

This medieval building next to the walls of the Old Town of Tallinn has only ever served a secular purpose during its history, and the Ukrainian congregation has turned it into a sanctuary which is both historical and modern.

The church has a small monastery which is the centre of the Ukrainian religious and cultural life. If you pass it on the Laboratooriumi Street, you can take your troubles to God, and slip a piece of paper with your prayer request through the small letter slot.
By ordering a tour, you will see the church, the Ukrainian Cultural Centre school, Labora workshops, handmade paper and postcards, Tallinn toys, ornamented eggs, etc. It is also possible to participate in a variety of master classes.

Promoting and preserving Ukrainian culture in Estonia

This medieval warehouse next to the old city wall acts as the Ukrainian Cultural Center. The Ukrainian community is the second-biggest ethnic minority in Estonia. There are more than 22,000...

Part of Ukraine in Tallinn

That was so interesting to find a part of Ukraine in Tallinn Old Town. First I was impressed of small Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church there. I saw wonderful icons, I never saw like that...

Don't miss the great find

A beautiful wooden church that started as a medieval warehouse next to the old wall near the East gate. Has lovely wooden icons and sets of traditional painted easter eggs. Fascinating visit.
