See photos (5) The Velise church was built based on the design of Ervin Berhard. Stonemasons were brought in from the Lake Peipus area. The richness of decoration, which is characteristic of Russian architecture, was toned down to fit in with the Estonian culture through a skilled use of colour contrast between bricks and fieldstones.

We recommend that you take the Rapla-Järvakandi road to Raikküla. There, turn off to the right when you see a sign for Lipa. Then turn left at the first intersection towards Valgu. In Valgu, you will see a sign saying ‘Velise 5 km’.
