The summer in Estonia is in full force and what better way to enjoy the heat wave than on the terrace of one of Estonia’s many lounge cafeterias? Here’s a selection of lounges, bars and cafes with seasonal highlights for those hungry for fresh local food and a taste of the laid back Estonian nightlife.
Love sea food? You’re in luck as Estonia is surrounded by sea and dotted with lakes and rivers supplying some of the most popular local restaurants with fresh, seasonal produce. A 30-minute drive from the capital city Tallinn takes you to Ruhe, a breezy seaside gem with beautiful views of the coast. The interior design of the restaurant is inspired by the traditional fishing culture. Another hour or so will take you to the border town Narva, where you’ll find yet another seafood spot called Fortune, with views of Narva Castle and river.
Located on the coastal stretch of the industrial northern Tallinn, Klaus is a local favourite and boasts an international menu of light meals and delicious wines. Head to NOA restaurant for gourmet dining, which has long been considered one of the best restaurants in Estonia to sample New Nordic cuisine.
We’re thrilled to introduce you to fun little joints popping up around the country this summer. The Paide Central Square Room Experiment and Bar Üks Buss, a double-decker parked in central Pärnu, are just two of the many trendy hangouts worth checking out while touring Estonia.
For free spirited local vibes, take a day trip to Tartu. Founded by a young group of friends, Möku has made a name for itself across the country as an easygoing hangout spot for open-minded beer lovers. Founded by an Italian expat, Barlova has quickly become an integral part of the creative community in Karlova. If you are into Italian coffee, wine and snacks, then make sure to head over and mingle with the friendly locals.
