You can skate either inside in ice halls and when the weather permits, there are loads of places outside to test your skates! That includes more than just prepared ice parks though! You can also go out on frozen lakes and wetlands too. To help you pick where to cut the ice next, here’s a selection of some of the most beautiful places to go for ice skating.

The Nõmme Ice Skating Rink in the courtyard of Tallinn Nõmme Secondary School is open during the winter season for the whole family. Since the ice skating rink is made using special refrigeration equipment, it's open daily until mid-March, regardless of the weather. This means you can still skate even when the temperature is above zero. The new location of the Nõmme Ice Skating Rink created the opportunity to build a bigger ice rink and provides better parking for visitors. You can use personal ice skates or rent them on site. This winter, a skating rink of almost 1,000 square metres will be erected around the fountain of the Kissing Students in the Town Hall Square, where the most romantic and fun winter entertainment – skating – can be enjoyed under the starry sky. The skating rink can be used free of charge, and guests of any age can rent skates from the pavilion in the immediate vicinity of the rink. You can buy a hot drink and snacks from the cafe (Monday–Friday 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday–Sunday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.). Grab a friend and come and have a good time in the fresh air right in the heart of Tartu!

Skating rink in Tähtvere Park

Each winter, a skating rink is made from natural ice under the arc of the Tartu Laululava. It is the largest open-air rink in Tartu, which fits up to 40 people at a time. The skating rink is lighted and open all day. People who have their own skates can use the rink for free. You can also rent skates in sizes from 27 to 47 from the ski-skate rental at Laululava. We have more than 40 pairs of skates, which we rent out with an identity document. Group prices apply for groups consisting of at least five people. A ticket which allows skating there for the whole day costs 10 euros. See you at the rink! NB! With rainy and warm weather (above zero degrees), the skating rink is closed.

The skates are rented out with an identity document. The ice rink is closed during rainy days and when the temperature is over 0 degrees, or under -20 degrees! We have a total of 305 pairs of skates in different sizes. We also offer skate sharpening, skating aids, and hockey sticks.Thanks to the outdoor lighting, you can skate, play hockey, and do all kinds of other ice-related activities on the skating rink even when it is pitch black outside. In addition to winter sports, basketball, volleyball, and street hockey can be played here.

The three-storey multifunctional Tondiraba Ice Hall has a main arena and three practice fields. The main arena can be used for skating, ice hockey, volleyball, handball, gymnastics, and other sports. It is also perfect for concerts. The building has curling lanes, changing rooms, drying rooms for clothes, a gym, skate rental, professionals for sharpening skates, a café, and conference rooms. Visitors with special needs have access to each floor. You can also ask for packages for children and adults to celebrate different anniversaries.

Those who have forgotten what it was like to go ice-skating as a kid, who have never tried it, or who are true professionals, can give the sport a go every day at the Astri Arena ice rink. You can bring your own skates or hire them here. The rink is also open during the summer. Children are also expected on the ice rink, because the skates start at size 25. We also offer storage cabinets, safety equipment of different sizes, and support frames.
