Birgitta Festival 2018

Harju maakond, Pirita linnaosa

09.08.2018 - 18.08.2018

BIRGITTA FESTIVAL The core of Birgitta Festival is the atmosphere. This is a union of the atmosphere of the Pirita convent and a programme of music and performing arts. No other such festival can be found near the Baltic Sea. Every year, over 8,000 people gather here on the ancient riverbank and dive into the magical world of sound for a limited number of days. The large audience of Birgitta Festival is a phenomenon in its own right. The atmosphere with its festivity, many joyful encounters, and unique lighting solutions are what brings them here. Operas and ballets, oratorios and galas, "Tosca" and "La traviata", "Bolero" and "Swan Lake", acknowledged coryphaeuses and wild experiments, guest performances and self-productions, classics and contemporaries – the Birgitta Festival can combine them all. The world's best current and future artists have performed here in the peaceful sea air. For years to come, they will recall the medieval walls in the sunset, the haze of summer nights, walks in the moonlight and torchlight, bright burgundy rugs, and the reflective echo of churchbells. While enjoying the summer evening, creators and spectators become one. Additionally, there are subtitles, comfortable box seats, cosy cafes (Mademoiselle!), and an à la carte restaurant. There is a roof to protect from weather. Art prevails.
