Tartu attracting visitors from neighboring countries using global sites

14. heinäkuuta 2020

Throughout July, Finnish and Latvian social media users will be treated to photographs of Tartu that compare sites in the city and county to well-known international tourism objects and destinations to spark interest in the nearby neighbor.

The original-looking visuals showcase in the form of comparative pairs attractive tourism sites in Tartu County with similar or similar-looking examples from the faraway places of the world, raising the question of why travel far when everything can be found in Tartu County.

The visuals sporting reflections of world-famous sites will be shown as Facebook and Instagram ads to two important target groups in Finland and Latvia: families and culture tourists between the ages of 25-60.

"The fate of companies depends on local tourism and visits by people from neighboring countries this summer, which is why social media campaigns aimed at neighbors are somewhat grander this year," said Helen Kalberg, head of marketing for the city of Tartu.
