Lehdistötiedote 6.4.2021:

Accommodation packages make travelling to the first biathlon World Cup in the Baltics very convenient

Next winter, Estonia will host the BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon from 10th to 13th March 2022 in Otepää. This is the first biathlon World Cup stage in the whole Baltics, which expands the list of World Cup venues after several years. From March 2021, it is possible to purchase fan packages, which include accommodation in a quality hotel, all transfers and a 4-day ticket to the shooting range grandstand.

During the four days of the competition, the world's best biathletes will compete in Otepää, many of whom have already been to Tehvandi Sports Center at the beginning of their career. Otepää, located in Southern Estonia, has previously hosted both Junior Cup and IBU Cup stages and European Championships. The BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon takes place in Otepää from Thursday, March 10th till Sunday, March 13th. The exact schedule and distances will be confirmed in May 2021.

The Otepää World Cup stage can be enjoyed both from the grandstands and on the track, where screens have been installed for a better experience. "The audience has the opportunity to experience world-class biathlon in the best possible way," said Aivar Nigol, Chairman of the Otepää BMW IBU World Cup Organizing Committee. "We are expecting around 6,000 spectators from abroad and at least the same amount from Estonia," he added. In addition to world-class competition, spectators have the opportunity to experience diverse and exciting leisure and culture programme. "We want to offer a special 'cultural path', local food and products, and a variety of activities for younger and older visitors," said Nigol.

The possibility to purchase a special accommodation package makes travelling to Otepää very convenient for foreign guests. The fan package includes three nights in a hotel of your choice in Tartu, the second largest city in Estonia and only a 30-minute drive from Otepää. Tartu offers plenty of leisure activities outside the competition. Transfers from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the biathlon venue in Otepää are included in the package as well as a 4-day ticket to the shooting range grandstand. It is possible to fly to Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, or to Riga, the capital of Latvia. If desired, it is possible to book an extra night in Tartu, Tallinn or Riga.

The first ever BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon taking place in the Baltics will be held at Tehvandi Sports Center in Otepää from 10th to 13th March 2022. Additional information about the competition, accommodation packages and travelling to Estonia can be found on the Biathlon Otepää website biathlonotepaa.com.
