The Eesti Kontsert prize brings us the latest winner of the Tallinn piano competition – Anna Szałucka. Admiring audiences, an open and powerful manner of playing, great emotions – these are only a few keywords which can be used to describe this young Polish talent. In addition to her emotions, this young woman’s strengths include her education – the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and the London Royal Academy of Music. The radiance of Szałucka’s rising star is confirmed by her performance in Wigmore Hall – in the opinion of many, the most prestigious chamber hall in the world – right after the concert in Tallinn.

The concert programme is an Ironman competition of sorts – varied and demanding of great stamina. This triathlon consists of the synthesis of beauty and fine technique (Chopin ballad), the esprit of French music (Ravel sonata) and the mammoth-sonata of piano literature (Beethoven ‘Hammerklavier’).
