Exhibition ’Michel Sittow. Estonian painter in European courts’ in Tallinn

The name of Michel Sittow (approximately 1469–1525) could be as well-known as those of Leonardo da Vinci or Rembrandt, as he can be considered as good a portraitist. At the turn of the 15th century, Sittow was one of the most wanted painters among European courts.
The joint exhibition of the Art Museum of Estonia and the National Gallery of Art in Washington will, for the first time, exhibit his paintings in one place. The first personal show of Michel Sittow, which is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia, is an important event for Estonia as well as the whole world, and this is thanks to the collaboration with the Washington National Gallery. The exhibition will also be displayed at the Washington National Gallery in the first half of 2018.
