Exhibition "Packaged towns" by Kadri Toom

The exhibition presents graphic art and installation that reflects the fast-developing towns and districts. Kadri's works express the forceful marketing of city structures, packaged skeletons of buildings, and the mysticism and utopia of space. The artist has been observing visual stratification in freshly developed districts, presenting the "more and faster" mentality of construction boom. And by observing the still life of half-finished buildings, she has imagined the visuals of surprise, emptiness, closure, repetition and silence. Presence of money and power, relation between strenght and performance, orderliness, uniformity and calculations have also been noticed.

Mixed medias have been used for Kadri Toom's graphic sheets – mostly cyanotype, monotype and silk screen. In addition to two dimensional art, she has also created an installation representing the visual beauty and emptiness of half-finished buildings.
