Hellemann Tower and the city wall

Today, Hellemann Tower at the end of Müürivahe tänav is home to an art gallery and an inn. The nearly 200-metre-long defence passage is also open to the visitors which connecting Hellemann Tower with the Monks Tower.
Climbing up the steep stairs, you will arrive at the attic, which opens as a viewing platform. It is definitely worth taking a walk in the defence passage.
Hellemann Tower is said to be named after Helle Holleman, a city citizen who lived nearby. In the Middle Ages, the strategic location of the tower, in the immediate vicinity of the Viru Gate, played an important role.
