The largest church in medieval Northern Europe and contemporary Tallinn, St. Catherine's Church (Püha Katariina kirik) with its wonderful aura and acoustics has become a popular venue for concerts, plays, and exhibitions.

The part used as a concert hall is actually the ruins of the church that was rented to a merchant called Koch by the city in the 19th century; the ruins were converted into a granary and a warehouse. Moreover, the ruins of St. Catherine's have seen versatile use as a car repair workshop, warehouse, for film industry purposes, etc. – everything that requires a large room with a high ceiling. However, recent decades have brought education and culture back to this house of god.
