The 12th Estonian Youth Song and Dance Celebration "Here I’ll Stay"

This summer’s Song and Dance Celebration is filled with youthful energy, as 14 young conductors will make their debut at the Song Celebration and the stage will be filled with 40 thousand born free youths. Besides the beloved songs “Ta lendab mesipuu poole” and “Mu isamaa on minu arm”, brand new pieces of music by Kadri Voorand, Eeva Talsi, Mari Jürjens, and Rasmus Puur, whereas the last one is the author of the idea for the Song Celebration, will be performed.

“This year's Youth’s Celebration carries in itself bonds of the generations. The roots do not grow into the soil on their own. The fire in your heart is born when you cherish it together with others and it gets powered by joint choirs singing “Eesti muld ja Eesti süda” by Rein Rannap and Lydia Koidula as a final chord,” says Aet Maatee, the leader of the 12th Youth Celebration.

The Dance Celebration on the Kalev Central Stadium has been inspired by the folktale of The Dawn and Dusk. Live music accompanies the dancers and young main characters appear on the stage – Dawn and Dusk, who will make their debut, along with Ivo Linna as the mythical Grandfather, and perform new works written specially for the Dance Celebration.

The artistic director of the Song Celebration is Heli Jürgenson, the artistic director of the Dance Celebration is Margus Toomla. The 12th Estonian Youth Song and Dance Celebration “Here I’ll Stay” takes place in Tallinn, at the Song Festival Grounds and Kalev Central Stadium from 30 June to 2 July 2017.

NB: the celebration will take place outdoors and tickets to the dance celebration may sell out before the performance.
