TREPIMÄGI, Viljandi

View on map

Close to Viljandi’s Trepimägi Hill, you will see the sculpture ‘Runner’, which symbolises the run around Lake Viljandi, which dates back to 1928. The sculptors Riho Kuld and Ülo Stöör have created their work on the basis of Hubert Pärnakivi, the eleven-time winner of the running race with the longest history in the Baltics.
The name of the winner of the competition on 1 May each year is carved in stone. Next to the running trail, there are granite pillars with names of the winners.
The number of participants in the international sports event has grown to several thousand over the years.
