Jõgeva (0 km) – Kuremaa (17.2 km) – Laiuse (24.5 km) – Endla nature preserve (45.1 km) – Jõgeva (70 km)
This route starts in Jõgeva and first takes you to Kassinurme, where an ancient Estonian fortress and cult site is located. There you will find Estonian national epic hero Kalevipoeg's bed, eyewash bowl, bath and slingstone, all of which you can learn more about on the Nature Study Trail.
The road leading from Kassinurme to Kuremaa is mostly gravel. There is a Classicist manor house in Kuremaa, as well as a park, beach and sports facility. The road from Kuremaa to Laiuse is one of the most beautiful in this area. Driving along the beautiful avenue road, you will have magnificent views from the hillside. There is also an old mill right nearby.
The Laiuse drumlin is the highest point of Jõgeva county (144 m). Nearby is the Siniallikas spring, which has magical powers according to folklore.
The trail from Laiuse to Vaimastvere runs largely along gravel roads, and when going from Vaimastvere to Kärde, you have to ride on a fairly busy highway. A famous historical attraction in Kärde is the Kärde Peace House - a small hut where a peace treaty was signed between Russia and Sweden in 1661.
From Kärde to Tooma, the trail follows a small gravel road. This will take you to the Endla Nature Reserve, where you can go hiking in the bog. Tooma also has several camping and resting sites. From Tooma back to Jõgeva, you will be cycling along a major road again, where at certain times the traffic can be quite busy.
This route is relatively long and has several fairly long sections of gravel roads (almost 26 km in total). The route has a moderate difficulty level.
It's best to start the trip from Jõgeva, Kuremaa, Tooma, or Pedja. You can get to the route by train from the Jõgeva and Pedja stations.
