Allikukivi koopad ja allikad-Allikukivi kergliiklustee, Allikukivi küla, Saarde vald, Pärnu maakond
You can see large underground caves on the slope of the Allikukivi old valley near Kilingi-Nõmme town.
The caves, which were created by ground water, were discovered in 1961. They are 33 m long and up to 2.7 m high. The ground water that gathers on the bottom of the caves runs into the old valley as a small spring on its slope.
Bring a flashlight and take a closer look at this mysterious place.
Fun fact: according to a legend, a wealthy farmer sank into the ground in this spot as punishment for refusing to give alms to a beggar during a wedding party.
When coming from Pärnu, turn right 500 metres before Tihemetsa small town, when you see the signpost 'Allikukivi koopad' (Allikukivi caves). Drive for another 100 metres and park your car next to the road. The caves will be on your left. You will have to walk there.
